The leaf worm is slightly smaller than the dew worm. Especially suitable for turtles. In order to keep foliage worms for a long time, they should be stored in a cool place. They can be kept in the cellar up to about 16 degrees for a long time.
The dew worm (Lumbricus terrestris), also called eel worm or common earthworm, is the best known and most widespread species of native earthworms (Lumbricidae) and the genus Lumbricus, even before the compost worm (Eisenia foetida). It is between 12 and 30 centimeters long, and its body is red in the front and pale in the back. The dew worm lives in meadows and gardens, digs tunnels up to three meters deep and burrows the soil very intensively. The storage temperature is optimal at 4°degrees.
