The tumbleweed is a perfect food animal for almost all pets that like to eat live food. The tumbleweed cricket grows much larger and bulkier than the cricket, so can make even larger terrarium inhabitants happy, such as small monitor lizards, larger monitor lizards, skinks, beaded lizards, collared iguanas and leopard iguanas, large geckos such as tokehs or New Caledonian giant geckos, and large frogs. They are quiet, rather slow-moving crickets with little jumping ability, which makes them very comfortable to handle and allows even somewhat clumsier or less actively hunting fosterlings to prey on the insects before they hide in the terrarium.
